Their paper (Kim et al., pp. 378–385) confirms that efficiency in reprogramming of mouse fibroblasts into pluripotent stem cells is significantly enhanced by the activation of the cAMP pathway. However, protein kinase A (PKA), a major downstream target of cAMP signaling, acts as an impediment to the reprogramming process. These results indicate that another cAMP downstream pathway, such as EPAC pathway, may be involved in the enhanced reprogramming by cAMP
